Floating garden

Intha people (ethnic group from Inle Lake area) grow mainly tomatoes and flowers on these floating garden, a very efficient and fertile agricultural system on the shores of the lake. They collect mud and earth in the bottom of the lake (this is a shallow lake) and use them to cover the aquatic plants which are made the garden. Floating garden can be used during five years before they need to be renewed. Stalks of bamboo prevent gardens to drift.
